The Stanford Historical Photograph Collection contains over 16,000 images and documents Stanford University and its founders. The collection includes images of campus and campus life, athletics, construction on campus, individual buildings and specific sites, students and student life activities, commencement activities, academic departments, earthquake damage, campus protests, student housing, Stanford family, Stanford residences, Central Pacific Railroad, and individual and group images of faculty and staff. The majority of photographs are black and white gelatin prints, but nineteenth-century albumen prints mounted on boards are also represented. The collection spans the late 1880s through the 1990s.
